Staff Engineer, Wafer Probe and Final Test

The Staff Engineer will develop, qualify, document, implement, monitor and improve pSemi’s Wafer Probe and Final Test processes run at various subcontractors in Asia. This position will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following functions: Wafer Probe & Final Test development, Wafer Probe & Final Test manufacturing technical oversight at suppliers, facility technical and quality auditing, supplier corrective action management (technical), and day-to-day problem resolution (e.g. quality holds) at suppliers. This role will use proven problem-solving methodologies to provide technical support for quality processing and to meet production demands. This position establishes and implements operator processing specifications and improves manufacturing techniques, and production yields.

Roles & Responsibilities

This position has responsibility for:

• Design, develop, and implement automatic test equipment and test programs for design verification and production testing at both wafer and packaged part levels.
• Sustain and support all on-site production test software and equipment.
• Support test development and characterization of pSemi’s RF, Boost, Buck, and Charge Pump products.
• Collaborate with Test Development, Design, and Characterization Engineers throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Coordinate with US Corporate Engineering to align manufacturing processes, transfer knowledge, and establish new test platforms.
• Ensure consistency in processing quality across multiple sites.
• Provide engineering support for wafer probe and final test processes, working with new product development teams, operations, and offshore suppliers.
• Analyze and qualify robust manufacturing processes to improve yield, cost, quality, cycle time, and capacity.
• Assist subcontractors with NPI-related activities and ensure monitoring and maintenance of process controls.
• Oversee subcontractor failure analysis, problem resolution, and disposition of discrepant material.
• Specify, implement, and monitor process control procedures to enhance production efficiency, yield, and capacity.
• Measure, analyze, and report incoming quality issues to subcontractors.
• Act as the central test resource during product transition from development to volume production.
• Define and support test and validation plans to achieve target test coverage and test time.
• Participate in new design troubleshooting and provide recommendations to development teams.
• Analyze test and characterization data and support test equipment automation, verification, and integration.
• Create and maintain test design documentation including instructions, specifications, verification plans, and standard operating procedures.
• Liaise with subcontractors to implement and support production testing.
• Manage time and resources to meet project goals.
• Represent Wafer Probe & Final Test Process Engineering in interdisciplinary teams.

Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)

• Minimum 8 years of experience in Wafer Probe and/or Final Test sustaining for RF & PMIC products, with solid knowledge of back-end semiconductor manufacturing processes.
• Strong understanding of analog/digital circuits, including RF, Boost, Buck, and Charge Pump operation and testing principles.
• Proficiency in statistical data analysis, including SPC, process capability studies, FMEA, Measurement System Analysis (Gage R&R), and Design of Experiments (DOE).
• Experience in process optimization, developing process flow diagrams, control plans, and work instructions.
• Skilled in schematic capture and PCB design for test fixtures.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Fluent in English, with effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in NPI and semiconductor supply chain environments.
• Strong project management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects under pressure.
• Experience working with offshore assembly and subcontract manufacturers.
• Ability to train production personnel, create clear documentation, and interpret complex technical publications.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with RF Test Platforms, especially Teradyne ETS364, and test program/hardware development for production and characterization.
• Familiarity with I2C, PMBUS, and NI STS interfaces.
• Proficiency in tools such as Galaxy, C++, Visual Studio, and Eagle RAIDE.
• Strong understanding of the IC product development lifecycle.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s preferred

Work Environment

This job operates in manufacturing and professional office environments. This role routinely uses standard office and related processing and testing equipment. Position requires travel up to 50% of the time.
