Hitachi Rail is looking for a Site Engineer that can apply their practical skills and experience to support the Rolling Stock team for activities including but not limited to Testing, Troubleshooting, Preventative & Corrective Maintenance of Hitachi Rail’s Rolling Stock fleet in Taiwan, to ensure the safety, reliability, and performance of its railway vehicles.
The position is based in Taipei, Taiwan reporting to the Commissioning, Services & Maintenance Function, working at the SanYing Depot.

Accountabilities : Safety Compliance
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
- Assist in conducting safety checks and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
Testing and Commissioning
Execution of Rolling Stock test plans and proceduresConduct functional and performance tests on mechanical, electrical, and Rolling Stock specific software systemsRecord and analyze test data, identifying any discrepancies or faults.Service & Maintenance
Following Hitachi Rail’s Maintenance Manuals, carry out scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance activities on Rolling Stock, to identify wear, damage, or malfunctions of its mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and software systems.Following Hitachi Rail’s Maintenance Manuals, carry out corrective maintenance activities on Rolling Stock, in case of faults found on the vehicles’ mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and software systems.Troubleshooting and Repair
Using diagnostic tools and troubleshooting techniques diagnose issues during testing, commissioning and operations.Perform repairs or adjustments as necessary to ensure the proper functioning of all Rolling Stock systems.Collect and support in the analysis of logs in order to find the root cause of any issues identified during testing, commissioning and operations.Collaborate with engineers to resolve more complex technical problems.Verify the proper integration and operation of various subsystems, such as propulsion, braking, HVAC.Quality Assurance
Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations and company policies during all testing, commissioning and maintenance activities.In collaboration with the Engineering department, rework any modifications as a result of improvements to the vehicles or address any open items raised by the Client.Communication and Reporting
Provide regular updates on testing and commissioning progress to supervisors and engineers.Document test results, including any issues found and corrective actions taken.Document findings and report issues to supervisors for further actionPrepare detailed reports on test outcomes and any issues encountered.Record-Keeping / Tools / Material
Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activitiesUpdate maintenance logs, databases, and reports as requiredIssue NCR report on the faulty items to be shipped to repairEnsure tools are stored properly and are readily available for useSupport the Warehouse keeper in the Material identification / withdrawalLearning and Development
Actively participate in training programs and workshops to develop technical skills and knowledgeStay updated with the latest technologies and techniques in rolling stock testing, commissioning and maintenanceRequired Skills / Knowledge :
Education : Engineering degree or equivalent. Vocational training or an associate degree in a relevant field (e.g., mechanical or electrical technology) is preferred.Experience : Previous experience in a technical role involving mechanical or electrical systems, preferably in the rail industry.Skills :
Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and software systems, preferably in rolling stock.Proficiency with computers, particularly in using diagnostic tools and software for testing purposes.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Good communication and teamwork abilities.Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.Beginner to Intermediate levels of the English languageWorking Conditions
Primarily based at rail depots, workshops, and test facilities.May involve shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays.Physical demands include standing for long periods, lifting heavy objects, working in confined spaces, and exposure to various weather conditions.Thank you for your interest in Hitachi Rail.
